Watercolors: Trying Something New

I have been painting for the past eleven years with acrylic paints. Now, that isn’t going to change anytime soon, but sometimes we get stuck in a rut and need an infusion of creative energy. I recently put my hands on some watercolors and have been having a wonderful time playing!

The thing I love about watercolors is that they’re really portable. They don’t spill all over the bottom of my bag because they’re dry. And they usually also come in a wonderful little tin palette. Perfect for stuffing into a backpack and walking through a public garden or a sitting at the edge of the seaside for some plein-air painting. I’ve included a video below of a painting I recently did of a geranium that I over-wintered in my studio.
