2021 Studio Tour Video & Photos

Welcome to my studio, friend. This is where it all happens. The painting, the playwriting, the storytelling, the workshopping, the Zoom calls, and even some music and the occasional backyard concert. The last time I shared a tour of this studio was in August of 2018 when it was brand new. ((You can see that video here.)) And before this amazing studio shed came into my life, I was working in my basement.

My family and I purchased the shell of this shed whole-cloth from a local place called Countryside Sheds in La Grande, Oregon. The interior space is 12 x 16 feet. It was constructed off-site and delivered to our property on a flatbed truck. Then, with the help of my Mama and stepdad, we built the rest of the space out.

I have created three distinct spaces within this 190 square foot room to suit my work habits and business needs.

The first area is devoted completely to painting and art making. The red table was constructed from pine boards by my stepdad and serves as my main work surface. I have flat storage below the table as well as space for shipping materials. The rattan bookcase in the far left corner holds a variety of paints and brushes as well as a tea making station. I also have open wall space in that corner for canvases in process. Easels take up too much space in my studio, so I work directly on the wall.

The second area is what I call the library. This is where I have a comfy chair, a side table, and a large bookcase sourced from a local shop that was going out of business. This is where I do most of my reading and writing.

I consider the third area of my studio '“central command” (pictured above). This is where I handle the operations of my business. I have a hard-working desk, computer, printer, and all of my office supplies tucked neatly into a bookcase for easy access. This is also where I conduct most of my zoom calls.
