Today I'm pouring through the work of Cecily Brown, a very well-known British born artist. Her work is completely inspiring to me and lately I've been revisiting her heavily layered lush pieces with renewed interest. During my workshop with Flora Bowley this past fall, Flora encouraged me to release "meaning" and embrace the idea that the simple pleasure of mark making - of putting paint to canvas - is reason enough for painting. Seeing Brown's work reminds me to lean in and layer it on. Here's a taste of her work.
