Rings | LuxDivine

Before I had kids, I used to wear a fistful of chunky rings on each hand. Why did I stop? I can't remember. Perhaps they got caught on hair or got in the way of a fast diaper change. Whatever the reason, I think its time to reinstate my oversized ring wearing habits. I'm in love with these gorgeous pieces from LuxDivine. Oh my oh my. I want them all!

And their arm wraps are gorgeous as well!

Loretta Fontaine | Custom Necklace Giveaway

Today, I want to introduce you to my friend Loretta Fontaine. She is the brains and beauty behind EcoHappy Style. Loretta is a Renaissance woman of the highest order and makes her life as an architect, artist, photographer, silversmith, author, blogger and green design advocate. Seriously, she's my go-green-guru.

This has been a big year for Loretta. She launched EcoHappy Style, wrote a book, founded the Native Tree Project, and recently opened an online shop to sell her gorgeous hand-crafted jewelry. And to celebrate, she is giving away a custom necklace to one lucky La Maison Boheme reader! But before we get to that, take a look at Loretta's stunning creations.

And here is Loretta working in her studio...

The Necklace Giveaway

Loretta is will be making a custom sterling silver photo necklace for one La Maison Boheme reader. Your cropped and adjusted photograph will be printed at a Pro Lab and set in the bezel of the necklace. The photograph will be sealed and protected with a durable layer of clear resin. The jewelry is cast in sterling silver and given a matte finish with an eco-friendly process. Liver of sulfur is used to antique and oxidize the sterling silver, and the high areas of the design were burnished to a brilliant shine. The necklace is finished with a white freshwater pearl. The necklace is on a 16″- 18″ sterling silver cable chain, (there is a 2″ extender finished with a tiny freshwater pearl to extend the chain to 18″). The diameter of the square silver shape is 1/2″ x 1/2″.

Here is a photo of the necklace below.
Loretta made this one for me using a photo of my children.
Isn't it dreamy?

Octavia Bloom Winner

Hello dear readers - sorry I'm posting so late today.  My office is in a tail spin and my computer is buried beneath a pile of books and paper. I had to wait until my man returned home from work with his laptop.

Yesterday, my husband and I rearranged our entire home.  Everything except for the living room had some kind of major change.  The house is put back together, but my office is still in the ground zero stages.  So, onto the business of the day...

Congratulations to Robinanne,
winner of a 50 dollar gift certificate to Octavia Bloom!

Thank you to everyone who entered.
Have a great Monday!

Giveaway from Octavia Bloom

Hello and happy Monday!  Spring has sprung in my neck of the woods and we are celebrating with a giveaway! This week, La Maison Boheme readers have a chance to win a 50 dollar gift certificate from Octavia Bloom, an online shop filled with gorgeous handmade jewelry. Octavia Bloom is the brainchild of Jenny Christiansen, a jewelry artist living in Bozeman, Montana. This is what she has to say about her work:

I love the wildflowers of Spring and their shameless displays of themselves. Bright and bold, on the side of dusty old roads, or romantic and free, in hidden alpine meadows. The jewelry I create is my tribute to these wild beauties. While out on morning walks my eyes are drawn to them and my mind absorbs the colors, shapes and textures of these wild blooms. Then later, tucked away in my old school house studio, I try to recreate these beauties. My hope is that wearing or viewing my jewelry gives you a sense of the wondrous, natural world we live in full of beautiful, blossoming wildflowers.   ~ Jenny

Jewelry Giveaway from One Man's Trash

Another giveaway?

And this is a special one ya'll.

Texas artist, Rachel Anderson and I have never met, but we will soon.  (Seriously - Rachel, I'm coming to Austin in October and I'd love to have coffee.) She's a creative bohemian mama who makes spectacular upcycled gypsy jewelry.  And she wants to share it with YOU!  Rachel sells her hand crafted jewelry online at One Man's Trash and this week she is giving away a gorgeous hand made cuff to one lucky La Maison Boheme reader!

Rachel created the "Material Girl" Cuff Bracelet just for you!  It's made with upcycled rope, cotton fibers, scraps of upholstery and vintage buttons. The colors in this piece are mint, teal, coral and taupe.

Some highlights about One Man's Trash: everything is handmade, incorporating recycled and reused elements. Rachel also prides herself on quick shipping. Every time I've ordered from her, my things arrive pronto! To learn more about her work, click HERE.

Check out some of her other pieces:

Rachel also recently started a blog called Beauty in Bits and so far, I've loved all of her posts, which cover my favorite topics - decor, DIY ideas and food. My favorite post is her Mom Survival 101. It's self-effacing, self-revealing and just plain funny.

I've been enjoying the resurgence of the "feather as jewelry" trend that I've been seeing lately.  My mother used to wear feathers in the early 70's.  She once gave me a old pair of peacock earrings when I was thirteen years old.  I vowed to love them forever and then lost them before I graduated high school.  Where are all the wonderful things my mother gave me in my teens?  Maybe they'll turn up someday.

A Giveaway from One Man's Trash

I am thrilled to announce this fantastic giveaway from Rachel Miller, artist and owner of One Man's Trash. Rachel is a new mom who lives and works in Austin, Texas creating one-of-a-kind Bohemian jewelry and accessories. Her work is totally unique, colorful and easily wearable. The photos below were taken at a recent fashion show in Austin that showcased her beautiful work.

Some questions for Rachel...
What is the essence of One Man's Trash?

I try to find beauty in common and unexpected items. Treasure in unexpected places if you will.  Much of what I use is would-be waste, scraps of tubing, rope, common household items, simple hardware store supplies-even things I find on the ground. That is not to say I don't occasionally find something at the bead store that I simply MUST HAVE but I aim to use it in an unexpected way with other, not-so-obvious materials.  I try to let the creativity of the design be more of the allure than the expense of the materials--it can be an exciting design challenge while also reducing a little bit of waste.

What inspires you?

Much of what I do is with fiber and embroidery threads. This allows me to have a full palette of color to work with but in an unusual medium. While I have a signature style of bright, bold, ethnic pieces, no one piece is the same with my work and I am continuously trying something new.  I am inspired by EVERYTHING!  My pieces are designed for bold women who love looking great and a little different, yet they are priced for REAL people such as myself.  Most people don't have $500 to spend on a necklace but should be able to express themselves just as someone with access to high fashion-Responsible fashion. It is thrilling to be able to express myself creatively and have others respond the way they have.

Rachel has created a special necklace just for this giveaway!  In a recent email, she wrote "I know you told me not to make something special, but I was feeling inspired and want La Maison Boheme readers to really get a sense of what my work is about..and in lovely fall colors!"  Inspired, indeed!  This is a stunning two-strand fiber choker with a large faux jade bead in fuchsia, olive, chartreuse, rust, red, black and white fibers.  It could be yours...

Then come back and leave a comment about your favorite piece from Rachel's collection.  It's that easy!  Include your email or make sure we have a way to contact you when you win! The giveaway ends Sunday, September 11th at midnight. The winner will be chosen randomly (using random.org) and announced on Monday, September 12th.

Sarah Saw Something

Time for another installment of Sarah Saw Something, where I share little bits and bobs that I found interesting in the blogosphere this week. Enjoy!

I love these photos by David Wooly via Head Over Heels.  Nelya, you always post the most breathtaking spaces.  I love your blog!  Click HERE to see more.

I was just introduced to the beautiful art and stone work of Jeffery Bale via Plum Sienna. I would love to try something like this in my back yard.  I could do a dumb-down version of this, right? Click HERE to see more of Bale's stone mosaics.

Look at this beautiful boho jewelry, hand made by Rachel Anderson from One Man's Trash.  I think I need to have THIS ( The Pasha Watercolor Necklace).  My birthday is only three days away... anyone?  anyone?  I love that it's all crafted from stuff she has lying around the house.  Up-cycle, people, up-cycle!

And lastly, don't forget that the online auction to benefit my son, Charlie, is underway this weekend!  The auction is being hosted through Facebook.  Go to the auction page HERE and "like" the page.  Then start bidding!  All proceeds go to Help Charlie Heal - a fund for Charlie's crazy big medical expenses.  Thank you all for your amazing support as Charlie gets ready for craniofacial surgery on August 1st.
